Here is a photograph of Wilf Mannion at 13 years old.
It was published in the North Eastern Daily Gazette on 12 February 1932. The caption reads:
“W Mannion, the 13 years old captain and inside-right of St Peter’s School team, South Bank, who has been chosen to play in the North v Midlands International Trial match on February 27. He is also picked to play for the Yorkshire v Durham match tomorrow.”

My dad (who will be 100 this year still talks about Wolf who he says was his favourite Middlesbrough player of all time.
I saw him a few times as a celebrity at boro games at Ayrsome Park just before we moved to the River Side.
