These shops were between Gardener Street (to the left) and Bolckow Street. Around the 1950’s this end of Gardener Street would disappear under a big expansion of Marks and Spencer’s frontage, thus closing off the junction. The site of Hepworth’s, subsequently occupied by Paige’s for decades, would also disappear under a further expansion in the 1990’s. Santander and Toni & Guy occupy the rest of this plot today.
