My Great Great Grandfather, George Henry Leopard born 1837 in Middlesbrough, had a Pub in Dacre Street, The Queen’s Head. He also had other pubs, The Oak, Cannon Street and The Empire Hotel, formerly The Swatters Carr and now renamed , the same on Linthorpe Road. His wife, Harriet Leopard, had the licence for The Albert Park Hotel on Linthorpe Road. Most of these pubs long gone. He also owned houses in Cannon Street, which were rented out. The Leopard’s were there when Middlesbrough was beginning to emerge and grow. Amazing, to see how it expanded.
