  1. My grandmother Dorothy Ellen Hodgson was born 1895 and grew up here; her father William Hodgson being gardener for the Bolckows at Marton Hall. She went into service as a maid at Marton Hall and later became a nursemaid. It’s a pleasure to see this photograph as this lodge is now demolished and I had no picture of it though remember it as a museum. There were two Lodges opposite one another. In the census and on her birth certificate it is simply called North Lodge. Perhaps they occupied both (there were rather a lot of them) or perhaps he kept his gardening tools in one of them. Any information people may have would be most welcome. Thank you Madeleine Johnson
